From the Author

Welcome! I invite you to take a peek into my world where I can share my writing, art, and photography. You may be wondering, why say I'm "On The Cobblestone Road"? Life is a journey, and it’s always taking us to new places. We can’t always see past the next curve. It forks sometimes, leaving us standing in the middle wondering which direction to take. It’s a bumpy ride, and when we fall down, it hurts. I thought I had a route in mind, but I took a turn on a different path, and I’d like to share that adventure. So, here we are.

Cobblestones have been an inexplicably reoccurring element in my stories, perhaps because of their uniqueness and texture, and perhaps I'm drawn to them from my landscape architecture days.

I wrote my first novella A Flight of Faith when I was in eighth grade. A year later as a freshman, I finished Shadow Rider, my first fantasy novel. It sat on the shelf for a while until I dusted it off as a junior and spent some time polishing it. Then came the decision to publish, followed by that daunting agent search. I encountered a man who revered my work; he volunteered to be my mentor and guide me through the murky waters of the writing world. I was so naïvely excited that I opened my heart wide, unfurled my wings, and soared on the wind of his praises. When he left me to fall, I landed on the cobblestones, bloody and broken, my self-confidence bruised.

Fast forward to college. My major was landscape architecture, but the writer in me refused to be silent, no matter how wounded she was. I poured my soul into a new novel, which swelled to such a size that it had to be divided into multiple projects, resulting in the completion of A Fallen Hero and other in-progress stories in the Chronicles of Avilésor. I decided to minor in creative writing, and I discovered a newfound fascination with linguistics that inspired me to start creating my own alphabets, ciphers, and languages.

Now, I welcome you to On The Cobblestone Road, my first blog. My desire to learn WordPress, share my writing and artwork, and send my first ripples into the writing pool inspired this website. I encourage you to read my first blog “Authentication: The Moment We Choose To Define Ourselves” because it showcases what this site is really about. It’s a second beginning. I am battling my inner demons of self-doubt with the realization that I should not expect others to recognize me as a writer if I don’t first recognize it myself. I want to share my stories. My imagination is spilling out of its container and taking the form of words and sketches and photographs.

Enjoy!
